Carriers may receive a notification that they do not currently fit Convoy's compliance standards. This is generally because of the company's CSA Safety Rating, BASIC scores, or operating authority status.
The FMCSA has a Safety Measurement System that measures carriers on 7 compliance & safety topics, called BASICs:
- Unsafe Driving
- Hours of Service Compliance
- Vehicle Maintenance
- Controlled Substances and Alcohol
- Driver Fitness
- Crash Indicator (data not available to public)
- Hazardous Materials Compliance (data not available to public)
You can look up your company's data on the SMS website. The SMS data uses your safety violations from the past 2 years, and that data updates once a month. You can see data on the violations and the inspection dates that result in violations.
You can view the FMCSA's guide on improving your safety scores on the FMCSA website.
Carriers with a Conditional rating must work with the FMCSA to get their rating changed to Satisfactory.
Carriers must have active, For Hire operating authority.
